Welcome

This website is where I'll tell you all about the Dusty Kent murder mysteries. The first one is Murder in Murloo.

Brigid George is the pseudonym of JB Rowley.

Why a pseudonym?

Many people seem to have issues with my real name.
  • They insist on putting full stops after the J and the B when they write my name.
  • They mispronounce Rowley so that the 'Row' part rhymes with 'cow'. Wrong! 'Rowl' rhymes with 'bowl' so that Rowley rhymes with 'holy'.
  • They accuse me of copying the name from a well known children's author. Well, let me tell you Rowley is my family name and I had my name before that children's author got her name! Besides, if you have grown up as 'Rowley', the name 'Rowling' is quite different.
  • AND I wanted to differentiate my crime novels from my other books.

Why Brigid?
My father always called me Brigid. I have no idea why. When I was young I assumed all fathers called their daughters Brigid. Being called Brigid again will remind me of my dad and my very happy childhood.

Why George?
My father's first name was George. So there you go, Brigid George is a tribute to my father: a devoted family man who died too young.
